Week 20 -- Half Way Baked!

How far along: 20 Weeks
Food Comparison: Small Cantaloupe
Gender: Boy!! We are so in love with him already.

His little hand is always by his face and look at those lips - I can't wait to smooch all over them!

Weight gain: +10 lbs
Maternity clothes: I own a few pieces but haven't really worn any of them yet.
Anytime out of work though I'm constantly in leggings.
Stretch marks: No - still slathering up with my belly butter!
Belly button in or out: In with belly button ring.
Sleep: Brutal.
Best moment last week: Finishing another project for Baby K's nursery.

A puff quilt. Mint white and gray! So difficult but so cute and comfy.
(More to come on this grueling process)

Worst moment last week: I can't think of one - they must have all been good!
Miss anything: Not having a stuffy nose 24/7.
Movement: Yes, it's my favorite parts of the day.
Cravings: Dill pickle chips. Yumm!

Queasy or sick: Nope!
Looking forward to: Getting so much done in the nursery since I have all this energy.
Prayer Request: Today during our anatomy scan - we were able to see how active Baby K already is. I pray that he will remain active - active in school, active in sports, active in his church, active in life. You only get one life so I hope he lives it!

Fabric Choices

If you have been around any type of social media of mine, you would know that with this pregnancy I have become the most indecisive version of myself. I use to never have problems making up my mind, but now it's a different story. I second guess everything!! The decision I'm having the toughest time with these days is my fabric choices for the crib skirt, sheets, changing pad cover, and curtains.
 (all of which I plan on DIY-ing)

My thoughts:
Mint or mint/white for the crib sheets, curtain, and changing pad cover.
Black/white/grey for crib skirt and maybe changing pad cover.

So far these are some of my options:

Black & White Wolves for the bed skirt
(maiden name is wolf so I thought this would be cool)

These options are all from fabric.com and as you can see I've only been able to find a few options in black/white/grey. It makes me too nervous to pick a mint color out online. I plan on going to a few stores in town to hopefully find the perfect fabrics in mint!

As much as I want all different types of patters, I don't want things to look sloppy or too busy.

Who knows what I'm going to do. Hopefully after this weekend when we get paint on the walls, the rug in place, and our dresser built I will be able to visualize things a little better.

 Have ya'll ordered fabric from online before?

Crafting: Ring Bearer Pillow

At the beginning of this month I went down to Texas for my bsfs wedding, where I did a recap here. Succulents, burlap, moss, monograms, pastel colors = so pretty!

She was freaking out a few weeks before the wedding because she hadn't purchased a ring bearer pillow or a flower girl basket. Luckily, I'm super crafty and I'm her friend so of course I volunteered to make her a pillow!

I started with a trip to good ole Hobby Lobby picking up some burlap, twine, and some silk fabric to make the flower. Her colors were pastel so this peach matched perfect!

I then cut out 2 10.5'' by 7.5'' pieces from the burlap and some random cotton fabric I had laying around the house. I didn't realize the burlap was so see through, that if I wouldn't have backed it with another piece of fabric then you would have seen the stuffing.

The finished pillow after I had stuffed it and used stitch witchery to close the gap.

I then made the silk rosette flower, and then noticed it was missing something. I went to my craft room and busted out the vintage brooches I had.
 {my dad is an avid antique-r so he always finds me some goodies!}

This was the original photo I sent her of the brooches I liked and thought went well.

And what we ended up going with was completely different!
{Don't mind the shadow. It's time for a legit camera and not just my phone!}

I added a twine bow which made it easy for the little may to hold on to and in case they wanted to tie fake rings to it.

This took me maybe 30 minutes and about $7.
Can't beat that!!

FOOTBALL Friday!

I am so excited to kick off football season with this post!

CT, my hubby, is a college football coach at our alma-mater Friends University. He was a receiver in college and is now the head receivers coach at FU, and he loves every second of it! His ultimate goal is to one day be an offensive coordinator at a big D1 school {hopefully KU}, and I will be here every step of the way supporting him.

I was quite the football groupie {aka great girl friend} in college and I still am now as a coaches wife!

Let me take you back in time a little bit.

{Freshman year of college}

{Sophomore year of college}

Junior year of college CT tore his ACL one of the first practices, so he had to medical red shirt this year.

{Senior year of college}

It's crazy seeing how much we grew up in those few short years of college!

Check out how creative I was with my fashion during our college football days.

Sometimes I wish I could still wear these, because they are so cool.
 I love that my dad passed on the creative gene to me.

I have the shirts saved away for the day when we have a man cave basement. I have already consented to it being decorated with all our sports memorabilia, so these will hopefully one day be framed on a wall.

Now to present day football!

I am looking forward to Saturday evenings under the bright lights, watching CT walk up and down those sidelines in his headset.

I am anxiously awaiting Sept. 15th when we are going to our annual Cowboys game. Yes ya'll, we are die hard Dallas fans!
{Don't you know, it's America's team. They even have a hole in their roof so God can watch His team. =)) }

I can't wait to break out the skinnies and boots, for some fun fall football fashion.

 {This is definitely not the type of football fashion I'm talking about!}

Can't you tell how excited I was about kicking off football season.
SO excited - that I didn't have a clue where I was going with this post.
EEKK!
Happy football season!

PS - I hope you link up with us to showcase your football Friday posts!

Weekend Recap + Shabby Spring Bunting

This weekend started a little early on Friday. I picked up a few extra hours throughout the week and had to stay late for an open house one night, so I was pushing over time and decided to leave early Friday.

Saturday was a hang at home all day kind of day.
It was showering and thunder-storming all day, so it was the perfect opportunity to do a little spring cleaning and spring crafting!

I mainly organized and cleaned out the hobby room. It's crazy how quickly it can turn into a hot mess!

I still have an abundance of black feather boas from our wedding that I need to find something to do with.
I'm thinking probably a Halloween wreath and maybe some garland on the Christmas tree? Any other ideas?

I'm also looking at doing something with these beauties! Besides these colors, I have a ton more grey, brown, and black buttons. I'm thinking about spray painting some metallic silver and incorporating them into our bedroom decor somehow.

After a little organizing, I joined the hubby in the living room with some fabric while he watched the draft. [Go Cowboys!]

I cut 4"x 2" blocks of some 'springy' fabric.

 Then I cut them into various shapes and left them with a raw edge which gives it a more shabby look.

My complete Spring mantle!

I don't know how I feel about the leopard and I'm wishing it had more pink in it, but other than that I'm loving it and I'm impressed with how easy it was.

We ended the weekend at the zoo with CT's little cousin. It's insane how crazy Kansas weather is: freezing during the week, rainy on Saturday, and 75 and sunny on Sunday!

We had a really good time!
It's even better when you can return the child to their parents and then come home and take a nap. Oh the joys of not having kids and borrowing them for the afternoon!

Crafting: A Taggie Blanket

This weekend I attended a co-workers shower, filled with lots of blue and lots of ducks!

 Her theme for the babies room is very neutral:greys, white, and a few accent light blues. Her bedding she received was grey and white with chevron sheets.

Shopping around at boutiques here in town, I kept coming across those cute taggie blankets. I don't really know the purpose of them, other than comfort and a little something to chew on, but I did know they looked simple enough that a beginning sewer like myself could make one!

Step 1: Get the supplies. The minky is the key to this whole project. It is extremely soft and it's a must for this blanket!

Step 2: Cut your fabric squares. I made this blanket 12x12 but I have seen them made all the way up to 15x15.

 Step 3: Cut your ribbon. I cut 3 different styles of ribbon 3" in length. I felt as though this length left plenty of ribbon on the outside of the blanket after it was sewn in.

Step 4: Pin the ribbons on the blanket facing inward the same distance apart. Remember, you sew everything inside out so when you turn it right side after you are done sewing, the stitching is nowhere to be seen.

Step 5: I did stitch a border on tip with a zig-zag stitch after this picture was taken. It made the blanket look a little more polished and put together.

I'm loving the finished product.
 So simple and so fun.
I've got a lot of babies in my life these days, so I'm going to whip up a few more just for fun and practice.

What do you know, maybe I found another product for my up and coming etsy shop!

Weekend Madness

Today and tomorrow are pretty crazy around here for me.
Between going to CT's little cousins basketball tournament, a co-workers baby shower today, church, and a work meeting tomorrow. I hope I have sometime to accomplish some chores and crafts!

Last night I had some free time to whip up part of my baby shower gift for today.

I made this taggie blanket in white minky and grey chevron.
[tutorial at a later date]

I also broke out my colorful springy fabric that Im going to use to make Spring bunting for our mantel.

I need to hurry and get this hung up before we skip right over Spring into Summer!

I also picked up these beauties at the store yesterday.

I am excited to play around with them and see if I can come up with something cool for next weeks nail files.

Have a good weekend!

 Hair bow, cheetah, and damask. This babe is all girl!

This isn't my little girl or my niece, but close enough! One of my best friends, J, had her yesterday and she is absolutely perfect. How magnificent is our Lord? In nine months he creates a full functioning human being that grows inside of us. It's simply amazing!

I can't even imagine the love her parents have for her, because she stole my heart the moment I saw her.
 God willing, my time will come soon enough! Until then I will love on this little bundle of joy.

Last Thursday, I helped J finish up some last minute touches on Miss A's room. Her room has the perfect ledge that J wanted to turn into a window seat. She was searching on Etsy for some ideas and possibly the prefect seat - but everything she found was hundreds of dollars.

Why pay hundreds of dollars when you can make your own for a fraction of the price.

Super simple and super affordable.
A piece of board fit to the length of the windrow, wrapped in foam and held together with staples, and then wrapped in fabric!

I also had some left over table squares from my wedding that I turned into pillows for Ayns! Two are housed on the window seal and then one is housed on her rocking chair.

I had so much fun helping decorate for Aynslee's nursery, but I can't wait to decorate my own!
