Week 14

How far along: 14 Weeks
Food Comparison: Lemon
Gender: weeks until we find out!
Weight gain: +4 lbs
Maternity clothes: None yet. Pretty soon it's going to be time to invest in a belly band that holds up my unbuttoned pants.
Stretch marks: No - doing everything I can to help them stay away!
Belly button in or out: In with belly button ring.
Sleep: Still always super itchy when I get into bed - but sleep has been better. Especially if CT stays off my side.
Best moment last week: My massage. I wish I could get one everyday but since I can't I'll settle for one monthly.
Worst moment last week: Getting a cold sore. Acne all over your chin and a scabbed up blister on your lip isn't a very attractive site. What ever happened to all this talk about glowing when you are pregnant? I have yet to see any type of glow!
Miss anything: Not really.
Movement: When I was lying flat on the massage table with my belly squished - I could definitely feel a few movements here and there.
Cravings: veggies - carrots and ranch, green beans, veggie chips!
Queasy or sick: Nada.
Looking forward to: Going to the KU game this Wednesday and then having Thursday off!

(I had to get a new shirt for the occasion!)

Prayer Request: This week as Baby K starts to squint, frown, and grimace - I pray that these are qualities/characteristics that they don't do often. I pray that Baby K always wears a smile on their face and that they are truly a happy person. I also pray that by being a happy person other people can easily tell that they have a heart for God.

It's Friday, Friday ... I'm gonna do 5 on Friday

A little Rebecca Black to start your Friday off right!

1. We got to see our little babe yesterday and it was so surreal. I'm measuring ahead at 12 weeks instead of 11.4 and the heart beat was 175! It's crazy how just 4 weeks ago our little baby looked like a blob and yesterday you could see its arms, legs, hands, feet - it was moving all over the place.

Feet crossed, chillin' like a villain!

Posing for us. I can't get over the details you can see already!

The picture that had the hubby freaked out! Last appointment our babes HB was 178 and the Dr. said girls statistically have a higher heart rate. Then when the tech showed him this picture yesterday it confirmed it for him! Haha! I just think it's funny cause it's too early to tell and it has got him all flustered.

2. Looking forward to our gender scan Feb. 10.
I've decided I'm taking vacation the 11th so I can start shopping. =)

3. I'm hoping KU pulls off another win tomorrow against K-State. It's sad that I even doubt them, but with the way they are playing this season ... you never know.

4. Before I get too huge and can't travel, I want to plan a trip to Vegas for a long weekend. I'm thinking March.
Any tips/tricks to make this trip super affordable?

5. This weekend is jam packed - I don't know when I'm going to fit in my nap. #firstworldproblems

10 great things about living in Kansas

Contrary to what people may think, Kansas is more then just a fly over state.
It really does have a lot to offer!

1. On almost any given week, we get the pleasure of experiencing almost all the seasons. It can be raining one day, 90 degrees the next day, snowing the following day after that, and all days the wind will be blowing 40 miles per hour.

2. With this luxury, it gives us the ability to own multiple styles of clothes. Everything from vests, car harts, and itty bitty tiny weeny yellow polka dot bikinis, to uggs, sandals, and cowboy boots. We have four closets in our apartment and they aren't near big enough to hold all of CT and my clothes and shoes.

3. Kansas is home to Kansas University and the KU Jayhawks!
Winter time and basketball season is a great time to be a Kansas fan.

4. Every night you can go outside, look up and see an abundance of pretty stars.

5. In the same breath, we have the prettiest sunsets and sunrises.

6. We have the #1 {Cargill} and #2 {Koch Industries} largest privately owned businesses in the United States in Wichita, Ks. This means lots of good jobs that pay well.
One of them being mine, which I start today!

7. We are housed in the middle of the USA. That means we are about equal distances to each coast, north south east and west. This also means that if a terrorist was going to drop a massive bomb, they may start by dropping it over Kansas to see how much they could wipe out.
(That's not so much a great thing about Kansas.)

8. Cost of living here is awesome. You can get a super nice 3-4 bedroom house with 2-3 bathrooms, a basement, a yard, and a double car garage for $150,000.

9. We grow home grown sweet corn and lots of it.
I can't wait for the day where I can have my own garden like the one below and grow asparagus, onions, peppers, jalapeƱos, pumpkins, tomatoes, and corn!

10. Even though we are a fly over state, we are such a pretty fly over state.

It's always nice to go away, but it's always so great to come back home. . .
to Kansas!

What do you love about your state?

  • 2 for $22 candles at Bath & Body Works. It's an addiction. I have to get some every sale.
  • My new KU shorts!
  • Who doesn't love a little scripture to start your day?
  • How CT makes the bed and how I make the bed. I really shouldn't complain though, at least the pillows got off the floor and on the bed!
  • My definition of 'work swag' with a little arm candy.
  • This is the true definition of hogging the controls.
  • Making some custom grey and yellow pillows for Ashley with Events By Ashley!
  •  My grandma just past away, and I received her old sewing machine. It's super special to me because it's the same one I learned on as a little girl. I'm excited to start cranking out some projects. =))
  • The dress I wore for our wedding reception. Boy am I in love with this. I wish I had another occassion to wear an all white dress that's completely covered in jewels.
  • I went pole dancing for a bachelorette party, and it was the most fun and most difficult thing I have ever done in my entire life.

I Will Do Better

Blogging. . . I will get better at it.

It has been since June when I last blogged. How sad =(. Working 40+ hours a week is no excuse. There are many working women out here in the blog-world who are full time wives, moms, and working women who blog multiple times a week.

3 posts a week is my goal!

Anyways, this past weekend we went up to KC for the 2nd round of the NCAA basketball tournament to watch a little RockChalk basketball.

A little snow, a little shopping, a little alcohol, and lots of bad food!

Excited on the way up to KC! (We hardly do couple pictures. Another thing I need to do better at.)

Sporting our crimson and blue!

OOTD.
Royal Skinny jeans- Gordmans. Gold sparkly Toms. Arm candy- namaste bracelet. Honora pearl bracelet. Stella&Dot bracelt. Gold chained bracelet from Gordmans. Gold bauble necklace from Groopdealz.

What a fun eventful weekend! My daring husband spotted some open seats and made us sneak down passed the guys in the yellow checking tickets. "Act like you know what you are doing and don't make eye contact." The wise words from my husband. =)

We ended up sitting in row 7 behind the opponents bench, as opposed to going up into the rafters where our purchased seats were. CT and I were getting blown up on FB and through text message all game because each possession we were in perfect view for all of TV land to see!

A big shout out and thank you to the Ole Miss coaches wives. We apparently were sitting in their row, and they piled their kids on their laps so we could continue to sit their the remainder of the game.

What do you know, there are still some good people in the world these days.

SO excited! + Nail Files

I got the JOB! I got the JOB! I am excited and beyond relieved. I have probably sat through a good 15 interviews since graduating last May, and all my hard work a patience has paid off.

I will be working in the medical office for a very well known cosmetic clinic here in town. =)

God does have a plan for every situation, people. Don't doubt! --->(mostly a reminder to myself) There were many times I started to get bummed out and felt defeated, but now I'm extremely happy I handed all control over to Him.

Before I head out of town to spend a much needed weekend with my family, I wanted to link up with Tara & Vicki.

This week was inspired by Pinterest, of course!

I need to work on perfecting them, but you get the point. I tried to make the glitter have a gradient effect.

Folly by Sinful Colors
3rd color of glitter.

I must admit, I was one of those girls in high school that was glitter obsessed. I have a collection of these tubes that I would incorporate into my eye shadows! Ha!

Even though the color is dark fuchsia and the blue really is more turquoise, they turned out to look just red and blue.

Today's outfit was inspired by the nails! Go Jayhawks!!

PS - check out Charlotte Russe for cute colored shorts! I got this pair, a neon yellow, and a mint for $15 each!

PSS - if you wear a 6.5-7.5 in women shoes, you can probably fit into 5.5-6.5 youth shoes. These sparkle gold TOMS only come in youth and are much cheaper!

What a Wonderful Weekend

How lovely is this weather in February? 60-70 degrees with no wind feels amazing! It makes me beyond excited for Spring & Summer!

Today I went tanning for the first time in ages. I know some people don't have the same opinions as me, but I love it and I love the way it makes me feel. It's nice to have a little color without having the fear of orange hands, streaky spots, or patches of color missing. Having a little natural color makes me feel better, healthier, and more confident. Back in the day when I played volleyball and was in spandex all the time, I was constantly tan. I have been slacking and haven't went since before Thanksgiving. Thankfully this weather is making me excited for Spring and excited for a little color. Back to the routine I go!

What is everyone doing on this Saturday? For my family it is a day of relaxing, watching the border war between KU & Missouri (final game for them in the Big12 because Missouri is leaving), and getting together with some family to welcome home a solider from Africa. I couldn't be more thankful for good quality time with family.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
