Nesting: Cleaning the Microwave

Let me start off by saying there are not enough hours in a day. How am I suppose to prepare my house and create a nursery only on the weekends? My days are filled with work, my nights are filled with sports and CT - where am I to find the time? 15.5 weeks have already gone by and I have nothing to show for it. How does anyone do it?

I've already decided there's no way I can compromise any sleep.
Seems like the most logical thing to do is to quit my dream job at the dream company.
You know, live off a PE teachers salary the rest of our lives. =)

Anyways . . . when I do find the time to do things - it seems to be more nesting related. I can't tackle the soon to be nursery until everything else in the apartment is cleaned and organized!

One thing that has been bugging me for months is the nastiness of my microwave. You know - all the explosions and all the crustiness that have been there for a good year.

(This looks good compared to what I've cleaned before)

Want a sparkling clean microwave? Use this!

2 cups Water
1 Lemon
3 tbsp Distilled Vinegar

Microwave for 5 minutes.
Let stand for a few more minutes so the steam has extra time to do its job.
Remove mixture from microwave, pour down kitchen drain, and turn on disposal.
(It has dual purposes - removing grime and curbing the smell in your sink)
Take a towel to the microwave and wipe it down.

Completing these steps I was able to clean the top, sides, and microwave door with no problem. I did need some additional help to get the gunk off the bottom of the microwave.

I can't praise this Lysol with Hydrogen Peroxide mixture enough.

I sprayed it all over the microwave, let it stand a minute, and then didn't have a problem removing any of the remaining gunk after that.

We also use this all over the kitchen: appliances, counters, sink.
It works for everything! Plus there is no bleach so we don't have a problem with it staining kitchen towels or clothes if we get a little close.

I couldn't be more happy with the outcome! Plus it required very little work and hardly any elbow grease.

How often do you clean your microwave and what are your tricks?
