Auction Find

I have been on the look out for the perfect buffet table for my dining room.
I've been looking on craigs list and in the paper, and I've been having my dad look at auctions and antique malls.

He stumbled across this beauty at an auction and purchased it for only $60!

I want to change out the hardware as well as give it a fresh coat of paint.
I am thinking of painting it either a bright yellow or red!

via

I've heard great things about Annie Sloan chalk paint. There is no need to sand the piece of furniture and usually only one coat is needed!

I'm also thinking about removing the bottom middle door all together. Maybe get two cute baskets that will be seen. I don't know yet. Ill need to play around with it.

I LOVE the middle doors on the red buffet though. It looks like it's one of those decorative ceiling tiles painted and added to the wood.
I may try and find something similar!

Stay tuned!

Weekend Recap + Shabby Spring Bunting

This weekend started a little early on Friday. I picked up a few extra hours throughout the week and had to stay late for an open house one night, so I was pushing over time and decided to leave early Friday.

Saturday was a hang at home all day kind of day.
It was showering and thunder-storming all day, so it was the perfect opportunity to do a little spring cleaning and spring crafting!

I mainly organized and cleaned out the hobby room. It's crazy how quickly it can turn into a hot mess!

I still have an abundance of black feather boas from our wedding that I need to find something to do with.
I'm thinking probably a Halloween wreath and maybe some garland on the Christmas tree? Any other ideas?

I'm also looking at doing something with these beauties! Besides these colors, I have a ton more grey, brown, and black buttons. I'm thinking about spray painting some metallic silver and incorporating them into our bedroom decor somehow.

After a little organizing, I joined the hubby in the living room with some fabric while he watched the draft. [Go Cowboys!]

I cut 4"x 2" blocks of some 'springy' fabric.

Then I cut them into various shapes and left them with a raw edge which gives it a more shabby look.

My complete Spring mantle!

I don't know how I feel about the leopard and I'm wishing it had more pink in it, but other than that I'm loving it and I'm impressed with how easy it was.

We ended the weekend at the zoo with CT's little cousin. It's insane how crazy Kansas weather is: freezing during the week, rainy on Saturday, and 75 and sunny on Sunday!

We had a really good time!
It's even better when you can return the child to their parents and then come home and take a nap. Oh the joys of not having kids and borrowing them for the afternoon!

Weekly Inspiration [4]

Are you feeling stuck in life? Does your life feel like it's at a stand still?
I totally feel like today's message at church was directed towards me.

It's difficult when it seems as everyone around you is doing bigger and better things [using their degree towards their 'big people' jobs, buying homes, and having babies] and it feels as though you are just stuck, waiting.

What I took away from today's sermon was that our future requires our full attention. If you want to succeed, you need to be intentional in all aspects of your life. You can't just go with the flow hoping things work out. We need to be proactive and use the power of prayer to work together with Him.
Remember: our potential is limitless.

Philippians 3:13-14

I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

All He wants is for us to be happy in the path He has for us.

New ways of living never come from old ways of thinking.
Let go of the past and focus on your future.

**On a different notes, prayers are needed!
CT and I have a very exciting/nerve racking appointment tomorrow. Hopefully we get good information and that we are able to financially afford some things that are about to happen!

Life Lately: According to Instagram

life rearranged
via

Life lately according to my phone!

  • Miss Aynslee posing for the camera!
  • BabyLips! This color has just enough tint.
  • These are my baseball essentials to get me through CT's games.
  • This precious little girl is CT's cousin. She said "Tiffy, we have matching shoes."
  • A baby shower gift I got that found the perfect home by my window.
  • Happy Administrative Assistant day. My office spoiled me!
  • This little beauty is taped to our employee bathroom mirror. How funny!
  • I'd be darling at it.
  • Last night I made baked pickles. They were so easy (bread them and broil on high 3 minutes each side) and so delicious. Just my kind of food!

    Happy hump day!

Confession: April Showers . . .

Bring May flowers ...

... and TORNADOS!

First off, speaking of showers, CT is a varsity baseball coach and their games got rained out today. I know Spring is upon us because out of his 6 playing dates, 3 of them have been rescheduled due to weather.

It's better they are getting rescheduled though, because I would rather watch them get run ruled in the sun. =)

Anyways, back to the main part of this post - tornados!
This girl is deathly afraid of them. Ever since I was a little girl and there would be warnings on TV, I would set up our little fort underneath the stairs filled with tons of pillows, blankets, and all the stuff we couldn't live without.

I would get so angry at my parents because they are the type of people that go out to the front porch when the warnings start going off.
Now it's CT who does that and I get so frustrated with him

Look at how scary these things are.

There is no messing around with these monsters!

I totally have a confession though.
I like to be a little proactive during 'tornado' season, and how I do so is by packing a bag (besides my purse) that will come to the basement with me.

Here are a few things that you could find inside.

1. birth certificates
2. passports
3. wedding CD disc
4. my 'blankie' [which I may still sleep with]
5. change of undies
6. phone charger
7. water bottle
8. my good jewelry
9. my cash stash
10. my bible
11. dog leash

Yes it may be silly, but you never know what might happen!
How are you prepared for storms?

Crafting: A Taggie Blanket

This weekend I attended a co-workers shower, filled with lots of blue and lots of ducks!

Her theme for the babies room is very neutral:greys, white, and a few accent light blues. Her bedding she received was grey and white with chevron sheets.

Shopping around at boutiques here in town, I kept coming across those cute taggie blankets. I don't really know the purpose of them, other than comfort and a little something to chew on, but I did know they looked simple enough that a beginning sewer like myself could make one!

Step 1: Get the supplies. The minky is the key to this whole project. It is extremely soft and it's a must for this blanket!

Step 2: Cut your fabric squares. I made this blanket 12x12 but I have seen them made all the way up to 15x15.

Step 3: Cut your ribbon. I cut 3 different styles of ribbon 3" in length. I felt as though this length left plenty of ribbon on the outside of the blanket after it was sewn in.

Step 4: Pin the ribbons on the blanket facing inward the same distance apart. Remember, you sew everything inside out so when you turn it right side after you are done sewing, the stitching is nowhere to be seen.

Step 5: I did stitch a border on tip with a zig-zag stitch after this picture was taken. It made the blanket look a little more polished and put together.

I'm loving the finished product.
 So simple and so fun.
I've got a lot of babies in my life these days, so I'm going to whip up a few more just for fun and practice.

What do you know, maybe I found another product for my up and coming etsy shop!
A girl can dream right?

Weekly Inspiration [3]

I have this quote on the background of my phone for a daily reminder. I hope it touches ya'll as much as it does me.

We all need to wake up each morning thinking of all the things the Lord has blessed us with. If we have this attitude about life, we should never have a bad day.

Be thankful.
We are all so blessed.

Weekend Madness

Today and tomorrow are pretty crazy around here for me.
Between going to CT's little cousins basketball tournament, a co-workers baby shower today, church, and a work meeting tomorrow. I hope I have sometime to accomplish some chores and crafts!

Last night I had some free time to whip up part of my baby shower gift for today.

I made this taggie blanket in white minky and grey chevron.
[tutorial at a later date]

I also broke out my colorful springy fabric that Im going to use to make Spring bunting for our mantel.

I need to hurry and get this hung up before we skip right over Spring into Summer!

I also picked up these beauties at the store yesterday.

I am excited to play around with them and see if I can come up with something cool for next weeks nail files.

Have a good weekend!

Nail Files [3]

TGIF!!

Thank goodness it's Friday! Thankfully the week flew by, but it doesn't help that the weekends fly by that much faster.
I think we should have a universal 4 day work week and 3 day weekend! Who's with me?
Anyways, linking up with Tara today to showcase my weekly manicure!
In the midst of all this bi-polar weather here in Kansas, I needed some spring colors for a little pick me up.

Purple- Let's Talk
Turquoise- Rise&Shine
These nails were definitely not 'dress code' appropriate but I got away with it for the week! [muahahaha]
I am a fan of these Sinful Colors.
They are cheap and they have tons of different colors to choose from. The last time I was at walmart it looked as though they had just got in 30 or so new choices. I really like that most of these polishes go on matte but if you put a top coat on it quickly makes them shine.

For the LOVE of: T-A-T-T-O-O-S

I remember when I went in to get my first tattoo and the artist had asked me if that was my first experience getting a tattoo and I so quickly said 'yep, first and last'. He 100% assured me that it wasn't going to be my last and that I would be hooked.

As I sit here researching and 'pinning' to my permanent ink board, I'd say he was correct!

I currently have 2 tattoos that I love and am so happy about.

This was my first tat I got in 2009 with some girls from my college volleyball team.

If you are having a hard time telling what this is - it's a tribal wolf with a paw inside.
My maiden name is Wolf and I played around with a couple of ideas before I came across something similar to this!

This one is self explanatory!
I love my boo and I love being married.

Obviously, I'm into the smaller, simple lined tattoos that can be easily covered.

The next tattoo I  get, I want it to be a cross.

1. Finger tattoos are sexy.
2. Feet tattoos are super girly.
3. I love the position of the last picture but I would want it about an inch long.

As I was on pinterest tonight I heard "What are you doing?? We are going to have a hard time parenting when you have 17 tattoos and I have 1."
Here's to trying to talk CT into getting one with me! =)

My Dream House: According to Pinterest [3]

Happy Hump Day ya'll!

Here is where I'll be linking up with Michelle to showcase some of my latest to die for Pinterest finds.

Check out part 1 and part 2 of my future dream house. Unfortunately, at this time we have it too good paying only $300 a month for rent, that I can only 'pin' ideas for the future!

  • For the space challenged outdoor areas, this vertical herb garden would be the perfect alternative. Think of how easy it would be to get out the kitchen shears and go around to the side of your house to pick some herbs for dinner. Love it!
  •  This broken pot turned into a little fairy garden. Things like this confirm [God willing] that I have to have at least one girl! I need to make these things!!
  • This kitchen looks like one you are only allowed to look at and walk through. It's too clean and too perfect. My favorite thing about this is the double bench pulled up beside the island.
  • I am loving all this METALLIC I'm seeing these days! I just redid the decoration in our master bed room: black furniture, grey walls, and red and metallic decor. I am itching to paint something with this trendy metallic paint.
  • Who doesn't love an over sized colored mirror? It would definitely help me with my OOTD posts!

Do we have any of the same tastes?
