{Guest Post} - - Labor Pains Deserve a Present

Can I get an Amen?

Today I'm over posting at Leslyn's while she's out becoming a new mama to her precious baby boy Emmett!

After meeting her last year at our mutual bff's wedding - it's been fun keeping up and comparing our pregnancies because we are both due with precious baby boys only two weeks apart!

I hope you'll head on over to her blog and check out some awesome pieces any woman would want to add to her jewelry collection. And don't forget to follow along with her. She talks about all things: the good, the bad, a day in the life of a choral director teacher and as of recent - all things mama related!

White Elephant Scarf Party

A few years ago I attended a girls night out full of food, fun, and a gifts. At this gathering we had a white elephant gift exchange of scarves. With 35+ girls, there was a huge variety of scarves and it was so much fun!

Tomorrow I'm throwing a 'scarf party' for the ladies I work with. We are heading out after work to grabs some drinks and exchange gifts!

Rules:
- Purchase, make, or take a scarf from your own closet.

- Wrap it.

- Choose your order: oldest to youngest, draw numbers, etc.

- The first person starts and opens a package.
(Once you open a package you keep that scarf.)

- Next person can either steal a scarf or open another package.
(A scarf can only be stolen twice and then it's out. If you get stolen from, you can steal someone else's scarf or draw another gift.)

- Continue until everyone has gone and all the gifts are opened.

I highly recommend getting together with some girls to exchange scarves! It's a great way to kick off the holiday season, plus who doesn't love a new scarf? They are all the rave these days!

PS - of course, I purchased an infinity leopard print scarf for the occasion!

----------------------------------------------------------

I have been seeing all these cute cards around Instagram lately that I'm obsessed with. I didn't dabble around with a card this time, but something similar.

I had some random tags laying around that I figured I could spruce up with some washi and then use them for all my upcoming gifts.
 {Yes, I'm thinking of gift giving season already!}

I think the blue and black tag is my favorite.

This week, I was kinda stumped on what to do. I was looking at my small collection of wash tape thinking I needed to expand my color selection.
Where do ya'll get yours? Preferably for cheap, because we are on the saving money kick.

----------------------------------------------------------

This weeks washi tape craft was a gift I did for a good friend of mine who is getting married at the beginning of next month. She is a newbie to cooking and I wanted to give her some of my favorite go to recipes.

I wanted it to be a little bit more personal, so I purchased the recipe box from hobby lobby and up-cycled it.

I had to break out the cricut to make the red piece because when I tried to hand write her name, the marker smudged!
I think it turned out better this way.

I decorated the edges of the divider cards with Washi Tape. So simple but it really gives it some pop. And it helps to color code the different categories.

It's not super fancy but it's cute and functional and fun!
A little washi tape can really transform anything.

I then added in my recipe cards and wa-la!

Weekend Madness

Today and tomorrow are pretty crazy around here for me.
Between going to CT's little cousins basketball tournament, a co-workers baby shower today, church, and a work meeting tomorrow. I hope I have sometime to accomplish some chores and crafts!

Last night I had some free time to whip up part of my baby shower gift for today.

I made this taggie blanket in white minky and grey chevron.
[tutorial at a later date]

I also broke out my colorful springy fabric that Im going to use to make Spring bunting for our mantel.

I need to hurry and get this hung up before we skip right over Spring into Summer!

I also picked up these beauties at the store yesterday.

I am excited to play around with them and see if I can come up with something cool for next weeks nail files.

Have a good weekend!

Linking up with Sami.

Crafting: My Birthday List [Part 1]

Birthdays are hugely celebrated in our household [especially mine =) ].
My birthday is May 30, so obviously it is celebrated all month long!
I know CT gets so tired of hearing me say "it's my birthday month and it's my birthday week".
He is such the trooper!

Here are a few things I'm loving lately, just in time for my birthday to come around!

1. Willow needs an Auto-Start

We hardly drive her in the winter or summer because CT's car has an auto start and it's so much more convenient to get into an already cool/warm car!

2. Hair Extensions

 via

I have been following Bellami Hair on instagram, and I'm loving their look! I have pretty long hair but it's not very thick. I'd love some of their clip ins.

3. At Home Shellac Kit

  via

I spend so much on manicure/pedicures - this would definitely be an investment that would pay off quickly!

4. Michael Kors Hamilton Tote

 via

Why does this bag have to be so expensive? $350!
I try and justify this by thinking I'll have it my whole life! I just need to start saving my pennies now.

5. Clarisonic Mia 2

 via

Since I started working at HW, my face routine has quadrupled in time. This is the last piece I need to complete the puzzle!

After making this list I realize I have such expensive taste =/.
I guess that's why birthdays only come around once a year! My husband couldn't afford to spoil me all the time.

Keep an eye out, I will probably have a part 2 of this list at a later time!

Gift Season

I feel like gift season is in full effect. Between the multiple baby showers and birthdays going on, this lady has done some serious giving lately.

Good thing I LOVE it. As much as I love to celebrate my own birthday (month) and enjoy receiving gifts, I love giving them even more. I truly enjoy spoiling others and I will find any occasion to do so.

My mini me -aka- my younger sister Tessa has a bithday coming up. As I was on Pinterest the other day I came across a really cool journal that I thought would be fun for a 14 year old. Shoot, if I had the time to do it, I would love to have one too.

Check into it a little more. On each page is a different activity to get your creative juices flowing.

"Write one word over and over." page from Wreck this Journal
-write one word over and over-

Wreck This Journal

-doodle over top of this page and in the margins-

wreck this journal | love!!

-poke holes in this page using a pencil-
(all photos via pinterest)

What makes this journal so awesome is that everyones interpretation of what it is asking you to do is different, so no two journals are alike. I think along with the journal I'm going to get her some colored sharpies, highlighters, and pens!
It's hard to come up with gifts that are different and that she doesn't already have. Lawd knows she has more clothes and shoes than she needs!

I just got back from Paisley's 1 year birthday party this afternoon. For everything this little girl has been through in the past year - she is such a sweet blessing to be around. She is such the fighter and makes my heart so happy.

Ct and I have a thing for always gifting bows and nike attire to all the little girls in our life!

When the time comes and I have a little princess - that will be her go to outfit. Nike shorts and a bow in her hair!

Speaking of that - I only got asked 2 times today when our time was coming. After you have been trying for a while, what's the right answer to that question? Day by day that question is becoming a dreaded one. More on that to come.

Be looking out tomorrow for my Easter OOTD. I went shopping this morning and I'm super exited to put it all together!
