Weekend Recap

Whew! What a weekend. Like all the others, it went by ridiculously fast. 

When are we as a country going to go to 3 day weekends? 

This needs to happen asap! 

Anyways, this weekend was full of sports: football, baseball, and volleyball.

Whenever anyone asks me what I did this weekend, my response is always sports related. It's just what we do. 

CT had a game on Saturday where they lost by two missed p.a.t's. 

Along with their physical loss, they also lost their quarterback to a torn ACL and their best defensive player to a broken fibula. 

Not a good day for the Friends Falcons. =(

But on a more positive note, the CARDINALS won and they are headed to the world series!! 

We are trying to find a way to make it to Sunday's game. 

Wish us luck . . .because we are only going if we can find tickets for under $200 a piece.

 "It's hard out here for a pimp." 

We are on a budget ya'll! 

 If it's meant to be it will be. 

Also, this weekend was homecoming at Friends and with that comes the alumni volleyball game. 

Bruised thumb and floor burns = old and broken.

 Need I say more? 

It was pretty brutal!

NYC Recap {Part 2}

So I originally had a post planned about tips and tricks to navigating NYC from a Kansas girl, but I think that will wait till the end of the week. 

But I changed my mind.

I want to finish recapping all we did on our trip up East.

Tuesday July 2nd: 

Our two year wedding anniversary! 

We were in NJ by 200pm, we drove to our friends house, explored the city we were staying in, had some bomb pizza, and planned our next day in the city.

Wednesday July 3rd:

We were in the city by 1000am. We took that path from Newark into the City. We visited the world trade center site, and the Freedom tower which is almost completed. We walked to wall street- where we were stopped by producers and asked to come back at 100pm to be interview on CNBC about student loans. We then walked to the Staten Island Ferry and took it to view the Statue of Liberty, walked back to wall street which we missed our interview by 15 minutes. Then we took the metro to Canal Street and walked through SOHO, Chinatown, and Little Italy in the rain and then had lunch in Little Italy. We took the metro to Central Park where I had ice cream and we met Jeff Gordon. Then took the metro back to time square where we walked around and went to the Hershey store. I really wish we would have had a little more time to go to the wax museum. Next time! Then we finished off the day walking to Madison Square Gardens and taking the path back into Newark.

Thursday July 4th:

We picked up my friends husband from the airport and made our way to the Mets game. It was a 15 inning game. FML! 

Luckily our friends know a guy who pitches for the Mets so we got to sit in the wives section way close. 

By the time the game was finished we were so wore out that we didn't want to fight traffic and the crowds trying to find a good spot to watch the Macy's Fireworks, so we made our way back to NJ and watched from them from the couch.

Friday July 5th:

We went down to the Jersey Shore which is about a 2 hour drive from where we stayed. We went to SeaSide Heights {where Jersey Shore was filmed}, walked to board walk, and hung out on the beach. The water was 

f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g  so we just hung out under the umbrella. 

Saturday July 6th:

CT and I navigated the city on our own.

 We took the path into the city and visited the world trade center memorial {which was SO cool}. It's 2 big waterfalls into the holes that were the site of the two buildings.  We then walked from there to the Brooklyn Bridge and walked over it. Then we took the metro to Yankee Stadium, watched the game, went to Grand Central Station, walked down Park Ave and took the metro back to NJ. To end the night we went to Applebee's to watch the Silva fight.

Sunday July 7th:

Woke up at 300am to leave the house by 345am to make it to the airport by 445am to catch our 600am flight.

We got home around 1130am, had lunch with some of CT's friends, and then picked up Bentley from my parents.

I laid down to take a nap at 330pm and didn't wake up till 6am the next morning.

Like I said yesterday, I was CRAZY exhausted. Such a busy trip but we literally saw everything we could see. 

 

If I could recommend 3 things to definitely do in NYC:

1. World Trade Center Memorial {duh!}

2. Central Park {so pretty and so much to do}

3. Time Square {most 'NY' feel with the people and things to do}

My Friday started out with a nice little promotion. I am now the Cosmetic Clinic Assistant Director/ VIP Coordinator at Healing Cosmetic Waters. It was unexpected and much appreciated.

This is one of most absolute favorite pictures of CT and I. This was taken during the initial 'honeymoon phase' of our dating relationship. We look so young and were so in love!

This is also one of my most favorite photos.
I am so glad the photographer captured this photo on our wedding day. It perfectly discribes CT's and my personality.


This past week I got a fresh new manicure and wanted to link up with Tara.

Well I hope you all have a good weekend. I have 2 birthday parties to go to tomorrow.

PS- CT is so excited to be done with his 2nd year of teaching next week. Today was his second evening being out of baseball and coming home at 3. Of course it was only appropriate to leave him a little list of things to do. I wanted to be sure he saw it!

I can NOT believe ...

I can NOT believe.. that it is go time! Time to make a baby! 

I can NOT believe.. that my birthday is in 22 days. 22 days till 24. I have a feeling it's going to be the best year yet.

I can NOT believe.. that CT is almost done with his second year of teaching! I am so happy that he is so happy with it almost being summer. His mood is dependent on the bratty kids at school, so with that being said he is a gem in the summer time. 

I can NOT believe.. I have almost been at Healing Waters for almost a year. It is bitter sweet. Bitter in the fact that there isn't really a whole lot of job growth available within this company, and sweet in the fact that I have met some of the best people at this job.

 I can NOT believe.. I ran 1.8 miles through the ghetto to get to CT's baseball game yesterday. My body is SORE today! 

I can NOT believe.. I will be in NYC in less than 2 months. How amazing does the 4th of July in the city sound? 

I can NOT believe.. how many passwords I have memorized. It might just be my hands that know them. There are so many and my fingers just go to work when I get to each website! (I also have 3 cheat sheets worth of passwords)

I can NOT believe.. how heart breaking it was to hear about those three women that had been kidnapped and held hostage for 10+ years. I pray that those ladies go on to live happy, healthy lives after all the traumatic experiences they have been through.

If Only

This past week + weekend has been quite the doozy! 

I worked 40+ hours at my regular job at the cosmetic clinic, then an additional 11+ hours at my summertime/weekend job assisting with event coordinating. 

As I was laying in bed last night, the bottom of my heels were throbbing all the way up into my calves. I then woke up this morning and my biceps were tender to the touch.

That just goes to show you I haven't hit the gym in awhile. 

Note to self -- get with it! 

This wedding I worked yesterday was absolutely gorgeous! I can't imagine how beautiful it would have been if it wasn't 40 degrees out and it would have went as planned. 

They spent a pretty penny on this wedding. 

A good couple 25 million pennies! 

If only...

 I had 1/6 of what they spent on this wedding I would be SOOO happy. 

All I want is my darn student loans paid off. I'm so blessed to have had the opportunity to go to college but the payments after the fact are absolutely awful. CT and I will still be in debt when we are 90. 

It's brutal.

 

 We ended the weekend with some family time at church and lunch, and then a date night were we attended a local amateur hockey game. 

It never fails, every game we attended our team loses.

This upcoming week we have lots to look forward to. 

Final buff baseball games, another exciting dr. appointment on Wednesday to see if we get a green light, and some much needed mom time on Friday! 

Beautiful things are about to happen!

... and TORNADOS! 

First off, speaking of showers, CT is a varsity baseball coach and their games got rained out today. I know Spring is upon us because out of his 6 playing dates, 3 of them have been rescheduled due to weather.

It's better they are getting rescheduled though, because I would rather watch them get run ruled in the sun. =)  

 

Anyways, back to the main part of this post - tornados! 

This girl is deathly afraid of them. Ever since I was a little girl and there would be warnings on TV, I would set up our little fort underneath the stairs filled with tons of pillows, blankets, and all the stuff we couldn't live without. 

I would get so angry at my parents because they are the type of people that go out to the front porch when the warnings start going off. 

Now it's CT who does that and I get so frustrated with him!

I totally have a confession though.

I like to be a little proactive during 'tornado' season, and how I do so is by packing a bag (besides my purse) that will come to the basement with me.

Here are a few things that you could find inside.

 

1. birth certificates

2. passports 

3. wedding CD disc

4. my 'blankie' [which I may still sleep with]

5. change of undies

6. phone charger

7. water bottle

8. my good jewelry

9. my cash stash

10. my bible

11. dog leash 

Yes it may be silly, but you never know what might happen!
