Academy Award Sunday

Yesterday was the 84th Annual Academy Awards and I decided to cook dinner and choose my own best and worst dressed of the red carpet.

I had decided that yesterday was going to be a 'pinterest' kind of dinner night. On the menu was brown sugar glazed bacon wrapped smokies & chicken enchiladas, all recipes can be found via my pinterest page!

Now onto what I thought were the best and worst dressed at the 2012 Academy Awards.

Best Dressed

My Favorite of the night, E Host Giuliana Rancic. She looked amazing. You can never go wrong with fitted, nude, and sparkly!

E Host, Maria Menounos looking beyond fabulous! Loving the green on her skin tone.

George Cloney's girl friend, Stacy Keibler also looked stunning in her perfectly crafted gold dress. It hugged all the right places and I love the flower detail.

I also thought Michelle Williams dress looked very flattering on her, especially the coral color with her pale skin tone.

Worst Dressed

Angelina Jolie's outfit really didn't do anything for me. Black is boring and she looked extremely skinny in the dress.

I also wasn't feeling Jennifer Lopez in her skin tight nude dress. I didn't like the pattern of the dress or the slits cut in the sleeves.

Usually Sandra Bullock looks fabulous, but this dress wasn't doing it for me this year. I have seen people with mixed opinions on the outfit. The tree like detail is not needed.

Who were your best dressed and worst dressed of the Academy Awards this year? I know one thing, I'm so thankful not the be in the public eye where it's normal for people to judge how you look every day!

What a Wonderful Weekend

How lovely is this weather in February? 60-70 degrees with no wind feels amazing! It makes me beyond excited for Spring & Summer!

Today I went tanning for the first time in ages. I know some people don't have the same opinions as me, but I love it and I love the way it makes me feel. It's nice to have a little color without having the fear of orange hands, streaky spots, or patches of color missing. Having a little natural color makes me feel better, healthier, and more confident. Back in the day when I played volleyball and was in spandex all the time, I was constantly tan. I have been slacking and haven't went since before Thanksgiving. Thankfully this weather is making me excited for Spring and excited for a little color. Back to the routine I go!

What is everyone doing on this Saturday? For my family it is a day of relaxing, watching the border war between KU & Missouri (final game for them in the Big12 because Missouri is leaving), and getting together with some family to welcome home a solider from Africa. I couldn't be more thankful for good quality time with family.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Life Lately

I started this blog in January and it has been just a little over a month since I have written a post. Needless to say, life got busy and this blog got put on the back burner. I have had a hard time managing my time. I have realized that I need to find more time for myself and more time for the things I enjoy.

With that being said - I have come to also realize that life is to short and goes by way to fast to not be anything but happy. I am going to focus on living life, being happy, and enjoying every moment of it. I know that God has a plan for me and that in His time everything will work out as it is suppose to.

As short as 2012 has been, it has been so far a year of challenges and lessons. I'm learning new things each day. I know this year is far from over and I have many more experiences, challenges, and days ahead of me. I am so ready to tackle what ever is in store, and I know that God is by me every step of the way and that everything happens for a reason.

My goal is to stay positive, stay happy, and have faith! I pray that God gives me the strength to do so.

Happy Thursday! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather. It is beyond amazing in Kansas - I love that there is Spring weather in February!

Me Time: Nail Files Link Up

I finally was able to sit down, relax, and have some me time tonight! I decide to link up with Fabulous But Evil to show off my nails. Head on over to her blog to check out some cool new colors and to show off your own!

I decided to do both my finger and toes tonight. I finally took of my candy cane pedicure from Christmas and I decided to paint them a spring color. I figured it was okay to dream of Spring, since I'm constantly in boots and no one will see them but me!

Sinful Colors: Rise & Shine

Paris: with no name sticker =(

Please look past my horribly small nails, aka my nubs. They may be small but I try to keep them polished because they look a little better that way. I'm really liking this color, but it looks darker in person. What do you think??

PS- Look what dessert I'm making for dinner I'm attending Sunday night with some girl friends!! I'm super excited about this.

The Slutty Brownies

1 Box of cookie mix,
1 Box of brownie mix,
2 Eggs,
1 Pack of oreos (double stuffed ones are even better if you can find them)
Some oil
& your favorite ice-cream (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking tray 9x9 with grease proof paper. Follow the instructions on the cookie mix box & stir furiously until you have gooey cookie dough, I usually add a little extra water and oil to what they suggest, it just keeps it moist as you'll be baking it for longer than suggested. An extra teaspoon of each is just right. Squidge (technical term) the cookie dough into a lined baking tray, until it covers the bottom. Cover this layer with your Oreos. Don't use the broken ones, eat them as you go. This recipe is too glorious to use substandard Oreos. Mix up your brownie batter and pour over Oreo layer. Bake for 30 mins, turn off oven keep in for another 5 mins, and remove them and leave to cool. When it's still a little bit warm, use the paper to lift your creation out of the tray and rest it on a chopping board. Use a large, sharp knife to cut it into manageable chunks, sections, slabs... depending on how many calories you think you can handle in one sitting. Drop onto a plate and scoop on your ice cream.

Recipe taken from The Londener

Wow! How delicious do these look? I should probably skip both breakfast and lunch, so I can save enough calories for this dessert! This would crave anyone's sweet tooth for sure!
